Born in 1982 in Përmet, Albania, Ilir Kaso graduated in Graphic Arts from the Academy of Arts in Tirana in 2005. A multimedia artist, he has developed a rich visual and conceptual language through drawing, painting, photography, video, animation, and installation.
His works have been exhibited in numerous museums and galleries, including: MuCEM (Marseille, France); Ludwig Museum (Budapest, Hungary); National Gallery of Art (Pristina, Kosovo); Neurotitan Gallery (Berlin, Germany); Contemporary Art Salon at the National Historical Museum (Tirana, Albania); Magazzino del Sale n°3 (Venice, Italy); Pino Pascali Museum (Polignano a Mare, Italy); Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (Rijeka, Croatia); National Gallery of Art (Cetinje, Montenegro); Beton7 Gallery (Athens, Greece); Local-int (Biel/Bienne, Switzerland); Riehen, Basel, Switzerland; among others.
He has received several awards, including:
- Audience Award at DokuTIFF (2015)
- First Prize for Animated Film at the Albanian Film Festival (2012)
- Best Image Award at “Anifest ROZAFA” (2010)
- Audience Award at “TIFF” (2009)
- AMC Contemporary Artist of the Year Award (2007)
- Special Mention for Graphic Experimentation at the “Balkanima” Festival (2005)
Ilir Kaso is also the founder of Trekëndori, a center dedicated to art and creativity, based in Tirana and established in 2020. The center emphasizes education through contemporary art, with a particular focus on research and innovative teaching methodologies.
